Help Support The Wreaths Across America Project

Oct 08, 2009

For the inspiring story about how a 12-year-old paperboy who won a trip to Washington, D.C., grew up and decided to honor veterans in Arlington Cemetery, thus beginning the Wreaths Across America project, go to www.wreathsacrossamerica.org.

In 2008, the recently organized Bonaventure Society, Children of the American Revolution, contacted the cemetery director of the newly opened Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville to determine whether it had already been designated as a recipient of wreaths from the Wreaths Across America project. Upon learning that this site had not been listed with the organization, the Bonaventure C.A.R. registered with the nonprofit organization to tackle the project of placing wreaths on all the graves at the Glennville veterans cemetery. The group responsible for placement of the wreaths is also responsible for procuring sponsorships for wreaths to be placed.

After only one year of operation, there were more than 90 graves at the cemetery and we placed a wreath on each grave in the cemetery. In 2009, we anticipate 180 wreaths will be needed. You can help by sponsoring 1 or more wreaths. Go to www.bonaventurecar.org or contact Senior Society President Elaine Lester at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or at 912-925-9544 for more details.

The deadline for sponsorships for 2009 is November 25, 2009.

Please join us at the wreath-laying ceremony on December 12, 2009, at 12 noon at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Glennville.
